Dr. Nassar is an associate professor in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, University of Calgary. Dr. Nassar leads a large research group focusing on nanotechnology and its applications in oil and gas industry including enhanced heavy oil upgrading and recovery, inhibition of asphaltene formation damage, asphaltene gasification, natural gas processing and conditioning, oil spillage remediation, and produced and wastewater treatment. Dr. Nassar has trained more than 50 graduate students and researchers. He published more than 100 peer-reviewed technical papers, 110 refereed conference abstracts, 5 book chapters, filed 7 patents, chaired 11 conferences and delivered a number of keynote speeches at the national and international levels. He is an associate editor for the journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, published by Elsevier and the reviewer of more than 100 international journals in science and engineering. Dr. Nassar received over 25 international and national prestigious awards for his technical, innovation, academia and society in recognition to his dedication and commitment to teaching and research. He taught 25 undergraduate and graduate level courses and has won several teaching awards including Outstanding Teaching Performance, Teaching Excellence Award and Great Supervisor Award. He designed two natural gas processing and technology graduate courses which are highly sought after by the industry leading him to act as an expert in obtaining US patents in this area. Dr. Nassar has received several research grants from Canadian and international funding agencies as well as numerous industrial funding from the United States, Middle East and Mexico. He is a professional member (PEng) of APEGA, Canada; and granting agencies and prestigious international engineering and technology publications routinely call him up for expert reviews.

Dr. Diego Galar is Professor of Condition Monitoring in the Division of Operation and Maintenance Engineering at LTU, Lulea University of Technology where he is coordinating several H2020 projects related to different aspects of cyber physical systems, Industry 4.0, IoT or industrial Big Data. He was also involved in the SKF UTC centre located in Lulea focused on SMART bearings and also actively involved in national projects with the Swedish industry or funded by Swedish national agencies like Vinnova. He is also principal researcher in Tecnalia (Spain), heading the Maintenance and Reliability research group within the Division of Industry and Transport. He has authored more than five hundred journal and conference papers, books and technical reports in the field of maintenance, working also as member of editorial boards, scientific committees and chairing international journals and conferences and actively participating in national and international committees for standardization and R&D in the topics of reliability and maintenance. In the international arena, he has been visiting Professor in the Polytechnic of Braganza (Portugal), University of Valencia and NIU (USA) and the Universidad Pontificia Católica de Chile. Currently, he is visiting professor in University of Sunderland (UK), University of Maryland (USA), and Chongqing University in China.

Professor Dr Ahmad Zuhairi Abdullah is currently the Deputy Dean (Research, Postgraduate & Network) at School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He received his PhD from Universiti Sains Malaysia in PhD (2004) in the field of chemical engineering. His research works mostly encompass the use of novel functionalized nanoporous materials as catalysts in oleochemical conversions, waste treatment, green technology and production of renewable energy sources. Enas M. Nashef received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, USA in 2004.After obtaining his B. Sc. In Chemical Engineering from the University of Jordan in 1984 Nashef worked as teaching and research assistant at Kuwait University and United Arab Emirates University where he participated actively in different research areas. Dr. Nashef joined King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, after obtaining his Ph. D. from the University of South Carolina in 2004. In 2011, Dr. Nashef was promoted to associate professor. Nashef was very active in research related to green engineering and sustainability and established collaboration with University of Malaya, KL, Malaysia, where he was a co- advisor for seven Ph. D. students. Dr. Nashef moved to Abu Dhabi (UAE) where he is now employed as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at Masdar Institute of Science and Technology. Abdelaziz Khlaifat is the Head of Petroleum Engineering Department at Abu Dhabi Polytechnic and AD Poly SPE Students Chapter Advisor. Prior to joining AD Poly, Abdelaziz worked as a Research and Development Manager of Dhahran Research Center at Weatherford International (Geoscience Development). Erstwhile, he worked as a Senior Reservoir Engineer, specialized in an unconventional resources (tight and shale gas) at Weatherford Saudi Arabia. Before joining Saudi Arabia office, he worked as a senior reservoir engineer (modeling and simulation) in the reservoir engineering group of the Weatherford Well Engineering Center of Excellence in Dubai. He obtained his BSc degree in Petroleum Engineering (1990) from Moscow Institute of Oil and Gas, Moscow-Russia, Master of Chemical Engineering and PhD in Chemical/Reservoir Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-USA in 1994 and 1998, respectively. Before joining Weatherford, he had held different positions in the academia. In 2009 he was promoted to a full professor of chemical engineering at Mutah University, Jordan.

Abdelaziz is actively involved in scientific research and development of novel methodologies and techniques in tight and shale gas reservoirs, shale gas resource development workflow and tight gas staged field experiments. He has authored/coauthored over 85 publications, including journal articles, book chapters and specialized conference proceedings in the areas of flow through porous media, hydrocarbon reservoir engineering, unconventional tight and shale gas, managed pressure drilling, non-aqueous phase Liquid transport, photocatalysis, two phase flow modeling and simulation, and Dead Sea related-research.
